What is the Julia McFarlane Diabetes Research CentreThe Julia McFarlane Diabetes Research Unit was founded in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary in 1983 as a result of a generous endowment from a prominent Calgary family, with matching funds from the Government of Alberta. With successful expansion over the next three years, the name was changed to the Julia McFarlane Diabetes Research Centre (JMDRC) in 1986. The JMDRC is located in the Health Research Innovation Centre (HRIC) in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary.Our Vision The vision of the Julia McFarlane Diabetes Research Centre is to create a world without diabetes through research and education. Our mandate is to stimulate, develop and coordinate internationally renowned research and training programs in sugar diabetes with special emphasis on the cure and prevention of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. |
